CYCLHAD, premier centre français de recherche et de traitement du cancer par hadronthérapie multi-particules, annonce la constitution de son Conseil Scientifique. Officiellement lancé au premier trimestre 2026, celui-ci constitue une instance de réflexion et de conseil indépendante et pluridisciplinaire.
Une stratégie axée sur l’innovation et l’accessibilité
CYCLHAD met à disposition des équipements de pointe dédiés à l’hadronthérapie multi-particules, un traitement par faisceaux de protons, ions carbones ou ions hélium permettant de traiter les tumeurs résistantes aux traitements conventionnels et d’épargner les tissus sains environnants. A ce jour, CYCLHAD exploite le ProteusONE, plateforme de soins en protonthérapie de dernière génération qui a d’ores et déjà permis de délivrer plus de 35,000 séances de traitement à 1,500 patients depuis son ouverture en 2018, en partenariat avec le Centre François Baclesse de Caen (Centre de Lutte Contre le Cancer, réseau UNICANCER).
A l’horizon 2030, deux nouvelles modalités de traitement en hadronthérapie pourront être accessibles aux patients : les thérapies par ions carbone et ions hélium.
CYCLHAD s’engage pleinement en faveur de l’innovation thérapeutique à travers la recherche et le développement de traitements multi-particules et œuvre activement pour démocratiser l’accès à l’hadronthérapie, tant au niveau national qu’international.
Le Conseil Scientifique de CYCLHAD, instance indépendante et pluridisciplinaire, a pour mission de fédérer et structurer l’hadronthérapie en France. Il vise également à accompagner et former les praticiens à cette technique innovante, afin qu’ils puissent pleinement l’intégrer dans leur pratique médicale, au bénéfice final de leurs patients.
Une équipe pluridisciplinaire pour le développement de l’hadronthérapie
Le Conseil Scientifique de CYCLHAD, présidé par le Professeur Thierry Philip, oncologue, ancien président de l’Institut Curie et du Centre Léon Bérard, rassemble dans sa gouvernance des experts de premier plan en onco-radiothérapie tels que le Professeur Guillaume Vogin, co-président du comité scientifique de CYCLHAD et directeur général du Centre François Baclesse (Luxembourg), Professeur des Universités et Praticien Spécialiste (PU-PH) au sein des Universités de Lorraine et du Luxembourg, ainsi que la Professeure Juliette Thariat, chercheuse et Professeure à l’Université de Caen, où elle exerce également comme praticienne au Centre François Baclesse (Caen) et y représente l’établissement au sein du Comité Scientifique de CYCLHAD.
Dans les mois à venir, le Conseil Scientifique est amené à structurer et piloter une communauté d’experts dédiée à la structuration de la filière en France, ainsi qu’à la recherche clinique et fondamentale.

Ensuite parce que les centres se développent en Europe, dans le monde entier et que la France ne peut pas rester dans l’antichambre de ce qui pourrait être un progrès majeur dans les années qui viennent. » précise le Professeur Thierry Philip, président du Conseil Scientifique de CYCLHAD.

CYCLHAD, France’s first multi-particle hadron therapy center for cancer research and treatment, announces the establishment of its Scientific Advisory Board.
Officially launched in the first quarter of 2026, this board serves as an independent, multidisciplinary body for strategic reflection and guidance.
CYCLHAD provides state-of-the-art equipment dedicated to multi-particle hadron therapy—using beams of protons, carbon ions, or helium ions—to treat tumors resistant to conventional therapies while sparing surrounding healthy tissues.
To date, CYCLHAD operates the ProteusONE system, a next-generation proton therapy platform that has already delivered more than 35,000 treatment sessions to 1,500 patients since its opening in 2018, in partnership with the Centre François Baclesse in Caen (Comprehensive Cancer Center, UNICANCER network).
By 2030, two additional hadron therapy modalities are expected to become accessible to patients: carbon ion therapy and helium ion therapy.
CYCLHAD is fully committed to advancing therapeutic innovation through research and the development of multi-particle treatments, while actively working to broaden access to hadron therapy at both national and international levels.
The CYCLHAD Scientific Advisory Board, an independent and multidisciplinary body, aims to bring together and structure the field of hadron therapy in France. It will also support and train healthcare professionals in this innovative technique, enabling its integration into clinical practice for the ultimate benefit of patients.
The CYCLHAD Scientific Advisory Board is chaired by Professor Thierry Philip, oncologist and former President of the Institut Curie and the Centre Léon Bérard.
Its leadership brings together leading experts in radiation oncology, including Professor Guillaume Vogin, co-chair of the CYCLHAD Scientific Committee and CEO of the Centre François Baclesse (Luxembourg), Professor of Medicine affiliated with the Universities of Lorraine and Luxembourg; and Professor Juliette Thariat, researcher and Professor at the University of Caen, who also practices at the Centre François Baclesse (Caen) and represents the institution within the CYCLHAD Scientific Committee.
In the coming months, the Scientific Advisory Board will structure and lead a community of experts dedicated to organizing the hadron therapy field in France, as well as advancing both clinical and fundamental research.

CYCLHAD is France’s first multi-particle hadron therapy center, combining proton therapy, carbon ion therapy, and helium ion therapy. Based in Caen, the center brings together hospital, academic, and industrial stakeholders to advance precision oncology.
