PTCOG : CYCLHAD WELCOMES HADRONTHERAPY EXPERTS

During the PTCOG 2026 conference, CYCLHAD welcomed particle therapy professionals from around the world for an official facility tour of its particle therapy centre in Caen.

With strong attendance and enthusiastic participation, the visit provided a unique opportunity to discover CYCLHAD's particle therapy facilities, clinical activities, cutting-edge technologies and research programs.

This international meeting, fostered meaningful exchanges between clinicians, researchers, medical physicists, engineers and industry partners, highlighting CYCLHAD's active role within the international community.

PTCOG CONGRESS

The Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group (PTCOG) conference is one of the world's leading scientific events dedicated to particle therapy. Every year, it brings together healthcare professionals, researchers, engineers, medical physicists and industry leaders comitted to advancing proton therapy research and innovation, carbon ion therapy, multi-particle therapy, and cancer research.

AN IMMERSIVE TOUR OF CYCLHAD CENTER

Throughout the visit, participants explored the different facets of CYCLHAD through several themed stations, each highlighting a key aspect of the clinical activities, research and future developments.

CYCLHAD & Laboratories : This station showcased a general presentation of CYCLHAD and the centre's research laboratories for hadrontherapy radiobiology and physics, highlighting the close integration between scientific research and clinical practice.
Distractive Methods : Participants explored the ProteusONE system developed by IBA and discovered innovative non-pharmacological approaches designed to improve patient comfort throughout proton therapy treatment such as the management of young patients without the use of general anesthesia.
Superficial Tumors with hadrontherapy : Visitors discovered how hadrontherapy can be used to treat selected superficial tumors, improving treatment precision while helping preserve healthy tissues.
C400 IONS - Cyclotron : This station introduced for the first time to the international community the C400 IONS cyclotron, the first of its kind.

C400 IONS - Treatment room : This station explored the fuure treatment room and learned how the C400 project will support research, innovation and the development of next-generation particle therapy treatments.
CYCLHAD ECOSYSTEM : The hadrontherapy ecosystem in Caen is unique in France and ranks among the most interdisciplinary environments worldwide. The close integration of partners on this campus of excellence enables the pooling of expertise and fosters strong collaboration between fundamental and experimental research, imaging, and clinical practice at national and international levels (nommer les labos).

Together these stations illustrated the complementary expertise brought by partnership, supporting CYCLHAD's ambition to become a leading center dedicated to patient care, research and innovation.
